Industry studies indicate that corporations in the United States spend almost $4-5 billion annually taking electronically stored information (ESI) from its source and producing it for a requesting party. The cost to review this information for privilege/responsiveness prior to production is estimated to be another $30 billion. Traditional solutions to these problems have ranged from knee-jerk (and expensive) purchases and implementation of software and hardware for managing discovery, to abdicating responsibility for the process to law firms, to half-hearted attempts at managing the process with capacity-constrained in-house legal, IT and records management resources. The failure of these approaches has led to a growing recognition that corporations should approach ""the inevitable"" (i.e., litigation & discovery) with a proactive and organized approach, which is known as ""litigation readiness."" This phrase was first introduced to the market in 2004 by Prashant Dubey, one of the authors of this book in the form of an executive primer book entitled: Litigation Readiness: Mastering the Inevitable. Seven years hence, the co-authors have authored a book based on years of learning derived from helping dozens of corporations achieve a higher level of litigation readiness in the face of an every growing electronically stored information ecosystem. Litigation Readiness: A Practical Approach to Electronic Discovery is a strategic guide to litigation readiness, or how a corporation can establish and embed a business process for responding to discovery when compelled to produce ESI.

First year nursing students require a firm foundation in clinical skills in order to succeed on placement, and in their studies. It is not enough to know how to perform a skill - today's students must understand how clinical skills link to biology, holistic care, safety and clinical evidence before they can undertake and master skills on placement. When starting out, it has been difficult to link theory to practice, especially across a range of patients, until now! Foundation Clinical Nursing Skills provides a clear introduction to both the knowledge and practical procedures that first year nursing students require. Without assuming prior knowledge, the authors carefully describe each element of a skill and demonstrate how it should be performed correctly on any patient and in any setting. Covering the NMC's Essential Skills Clusters for first year students, straightforward language explains the biology, evidence-base and rationale so students know why to perform each skill in that way. Colour illustrations and selected video clips show students how to perform a skill. Scenarios and tips show how care is given to children, adults and those people with learning disabilities or experiencing mental health problems. Examples are taken from community and hospital settings ensuring students can deliver skills on every placement. Supporting evidence, protocols and guidelines are reviewed and updated every three months on our free dedicated Online Resource Centre (which includes extra activities and teaching tools). Designed specifically to help first year students get off to the best start possible, Foundation Clinical Nursing Skills provides a high quality and student friendly account of the skills that are required at this stage of the course. On the Online Resource Centre: For registered lecturers and mentors: - Tips for teaching and assessing clinical skills - Figures from the book, ready to download and use in teaching material For students: - Evidence, guidelines and protocols, reviewed and updated every three months - Video demonstration of key skills - Over forty interactive scenarios and fifty interactive self-test questions - Active web links provide a gateway to the articles cited in the book - Flashcard glossary to help learn key terms - Links to useful websites

Description
Urology continues to be one of the most rapidly advancing specialities. Approximately 20% of all surgical operations and a similar percentage of surgical emergencies are urological in nature. However, often doctors have very limited experience of the many common and varied conditions encountered in this important surgical specialty. For the doctor or nurse expected to provide the initial assessment and management of a condition with which he or she has had very limited experience, this handbook provides an invaluable source of information and advice. Covering a wide spectrum of diseases and their treatment in the field of urology and surgical aspects of kidney, bladder, prostate and scrotal disorders, this handbook aims to give a brief overview of many different urological subjects including urological emergencies, cancers, infections, children's disorders and kidney stone disease. It is designed so that it can be quickly and efficiently accessed by a range of professionals involved in patient care, including medical students, nurses, surgical and urology doctors and general practitioners. Thoroughly revised for the third edition, the Oxford Handbook of Urology covers all recent guidelines and criteria including the significant advances in medical and surgical options that are now available to patients; key papers and national recommendations in the field of neurourology; expanded information on medical therapy of bladder overactivity and additional information on subjects including urethral diverticulum, pelvic organ prolapse, dialysis and renal transplantation, antenatal hydronephrosis, megaureters, and incontinence in children. An invaluable tool relevant not only to specialist trainees and specialist registrars on urology and surgical rotations, but also to general practitioners, emergency staff and the growing number of urological specialist nurses.
