S2K Commerce - Order Entry
Maths Connect for Jamaica is an exciting new secondary maths course that has been designed to meet the requirements of the revised curriculum for Jamaica.
Written and developed by experienced teachers and advisors, this accessible and easy-to-follow course:
- aims to raise standards in mathematical achievement and to make learning maths more enjoyable for students
- provides and overview of each chapter to give a context for learning
- includes objectives and an explanation box at the beginning of each unit to break down the learning points and tell students what they will achieve by the end of the unit
- uses worked examples to show pupils how to tackle a range of questions
- contains exercises with built-in progression to give practice for students and help consolidate learning
- supports the development of critical thinking and independent learning through the inclusion of investigations and projects
- uses real-life cases to show how maths is used in everyday life and to make it more relevant to students
- provides chapter reviews and tests to give students and teachers the opportunity to check progress and understanding
Rosalyn Kelly, M.Ed., B.A., Cert. Ed., is a retired Senior Education Officer (Mathematics). She spent ten years in the Core Curriculum Unit of the Ministry of Education and Youth Culture, Jamaica, where she assisted in developing and supervising the implementation of mathematics curricula (pre-primary to tertiary). She has 23 years' experience teaching Grades 7 to 11 mathematics at Wolmers' High School for Girls in Kingston.
Benita Byer-Bowen, M.Sc., B.Sc., Dip. Ed., taught mathematics at the secondary level for a number of years before becoming a lecturer at Erdiston Teachers' College (Barbados). She has also worked as Curriculum Officer for Mathematics in the Ministry of Education, Barbados.
Delia D. Samuel, M.Phil., B.Sc., Cert. Ed., has been a mathematics teacher for over 15 years and has been involved in the Common Entrance examination in St. Lucia and an item-writer, marker, moderator and supervisor of the examination.

The reading scheme will be linked to Language Tree, so that topics and characters familiar to teachers and students can be used.
The scheme can also be used independently with other Language Arts courses.
Strong emphasis on phonics, repetition, alliteration, simple vocabulary at the lower levels.
Focus on the Infant years where the need for reading practice is greatest.
